We inspect more than homes, add barns and you might be surprised what we find that has nothing to do with the structure or it’s components. Everything from vintage cars to antique firearms that have been forgotten or disguarded by their owners so long ago they do not realize what they may be worth in today’s market.
Then there is this full pallet four feet wide by four long by four feet high of a very usual size asbestos siding shingle, 9.5” x 24”. Asbestos (asbestos concrete mix) shingles were invented in the early 1900 and were the premier roof shingle for many years until the health risks associated to working around them was widely publicized which lead to a nationwide ban on them in 1989. Unfortunately this pallet of rare and unusual asbestos siding shingles is not a treasure anyone wants.
All asbestos waste will have to be disposed of in a landfill specializing in hazardous waste which for most people means hiring a specialist company to encapsulate it and dispose of it safely.
