Ohio does not yet require Home Inspectors to be licensed.
This leaves you as a buyer in the position of not knowing who is good or bad, what is the Inspector going to do when he gets to the house, will it be a thorough Inspection, or just gloss over the problems?
We are licensed with the State of Ohio, who is currently in the process of licensing Home Inspectors. The Department of Commerce who is overseeing the licensing and regulation of inspectors has as yet not issued any standards or regulations to govern inspections. This lack of licensing and regulation puts the onus on you to choose a Home Inspector who adheres to the strict standards of practice and code of ethics.
An Inspector who is associated with a professional trade group that demands consistency and integrity in their Inspection business. ASHI the nations leading home inspection association sets the bench mark for Inspectors with strict inspection standards providing guidance for residential and small commercial buildings.
All ASHI members agree to conduct their Home Inspections in accordance with their standards of practice which we understand will be the basis for the Ohio standards.
It may not be a license, but its the next best thing!
