Inspecting a home this week, I saw this picture of a very busy, prosperous downtown Dayton being revitalized probably one hundred years ago and thought about how wonderful it is to see downtown Dayton coming back to life again.
New homes are being built, lofts converted, bars, brewery’s and restaurants opening in areas other than the Oregon District.
If you have not been downtown recently it’s worth spending time there, the second street market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is a buzzing place, the new library is modern, amazing and worth looking at even if you don’t read, Day Air Ballpark and the Dayton Dragons. Want to ride a bike downtown? Rentals are available at one of the numerous downtown locations or cycle in on any of the bike paths, take a shower and change at Metro Parks Hub before heading for a brew or a bite.
Street parking is free after six pm and on weekends. Downtown house prices are on the rise, selling quickly with little on offer for a prospective buyer. During the past four months we have inspected more downtown properties than we have in the last two years!
Even if you are not buying, Downtown offers restaurants, bars and businesses that are not big chains, they are locally owned and happy to help you.
