Continuing education is the what sets Home Inspectors apart. When an Inspector becomes a member of ASHI, or NAHI, one of the many requirements is ongoing continuing education. Both ASHI and NAHI demand their member Inspectors to continually improve their skill and knowledge by keeping up with changes in construction, building materials and issues that are affecting buildings nationwide.
As a member of ASHI and NAHI we agree to attend a minimum of 18 hours of continuing education annually (the minimum requirement for membership). There are many years where we attend two or three educational seminars totaling in access of 60 hours. Considering the state of Ohio requires nothing of the Home Inspectors practicing in the state, this desire to keep improving ones skills sets the full time professional inspector apart from all the others.
