A detached one car garage, when the door opened two panels flapped around threatening to fall to the floor right where we stood. The place is piled high with junk, old toys, broken furniture, bits of everything!
What did we write in the report? “Restricted”,
Not all visible, Floor not visible.
The client who was not attending the inspection gets the report with the photo and the restricted comments. They were incredulous that we had not fully inspected the interior, which it turns out they knew was full of junk. We try, we really do, often struggling over and under obstructions to get as much information as possible for our clients.
If you are viewing a home and the furnace, water heater, electric panel, attic access or any other part of the house you want inspected, you need to have your Realtor organize that access is possible. Inspectors are just that, inspectors. We are not movers, it’s not our job. If we move something and unintentionally damage something else while doing that we are to blame and the home owner is double unhappy because we also put in our report that their roof needs replacement or the electric panel is bad.
