Loose Wire Connections Cause Fires

Electricity is strange, when we look at it there is nothing there, but it can do so much. We just know that it can make things work, why and how is beyond us.

Electricity is an energy form, energy just like friction creates heat that is generally minimal and controlled by the circuit breakers in your house.
This photo shows what happens when there is a loose connection between a wire and a terminal on a receptacle, switch, breaker or connection. A bad connection creates excessive heat that can scorch a wire (like the one in the photo) basically causing the equivalent of a small fire for a few moments. The problem and the scorched wires often go unnoticed for months or years and are only diagnosed after a catastrophe occurs.
