Choosing Inspectors

My Realtor gave me the name of another Inspection company.  Do I have a choice?

It’s your choice, you can choose any Home Inspector you want. It can be hard trying to decide who will do the best Inspection when you have probably never used a Home Inspector before and have to rely on phone calls and web sites for your information.

Most real estate agents will require your input when choosing Inspectors, in fact they would prefer that you decide which Inspector you want to use, your home, your choice.

All Home Inspectors are not the same, are not all as detailed, do not attend as many hours of continuing education every year, are not as knowledgeable. In fact there is not much regulation of Home Inspectors in Ohio despite their being licensed, many buyers do not find out until it is too late, that their Home Inspector did not do as thorough a job as they would have wished for.

Equally all Home Inspectors do not charge the same price, just as an I-Phone costs more than a “flip phone”, yet both can be advertised as a great phone!

You will get what you pay for and cheap is not always best.

Remember this is probably the most expensive purchase you will make during your life. It is your decision, don’t short change yourself, be wise, be informed.
