Power tools are not a necessity, but they can make any home improvement job a whole lot easier and faster to accomplish. If you are just starting out and want to get a useful tool, forget the adverts for the tools that you will rarely use and get one tool you will never be able to live without.
Get a cordless Impact Driver, it drills holes, sets and removes even the longest screw effortlessly. The cheaper ones do not have very good battery’s, so check the ratings before you buy. This is the power tool you will use the most, no matter how many other tools you eventually buy.
The driver will have a 1/4″ hex head that only accepts 1/4″ hex shank bits
With the impact driver you will need:
Phillips head screw driver bits (get a few they break)
Impact nut driver set
Titanium Twist Drill Bit Set (6 to 10 sizes from very small to 1/4″)
Wood boring “Spade Bit” set (for your bigger holes)
Don’t forget ear and eye protection!
