In 23 years and more than 10,000 inspections I was sure there was not much more that could surprise me, but then there in an older house I am stopped by the very large notice on the water heater saying it was a rental. Our buyer goes, it’s not mine? The Realtor is incredulous: it was not noted in the contract!
It turned out that a previous homeowner had purchased it and it was included. Evidently Columbus has quite a few of them and it was very popular in Cleveland.
In Canada it’s big business. Rental charges are $10 to $20 a month, so for a fifteen year life expectancy verses $900 got one installed, my math says it’s a poor investment. Life is full of surprises.
