You may have a large propane tank in your side yard and wonder if it needs re-qualification? (Inspection, testing and stamped as functional for use)
Propane gas cylinders like those twenty pound cylinders commonly used for gas grills are required to be re-qualified, ten years after the original date of manufacture.
Then they must have a re-qualification every five or ten years (from the last qualification date stamped on the tank) depending on the cylinder type, its condition, and previous re-qualification method used. This is because those small portable tanks used in gas grills and RV’s are regulated by the department of transportation due to the fact that they are transported in a vehicle to get them filled.
(Re-qualification can be done at large companies that sell bulk propane for a fee)
Large propane tanks that are “permanent”, and unlike the smaller portable tanks, they never need re-qualification.
