Air conditioners (condensers) positioned out of the way in a small space are not unlike unfortunate fliers in economy. They are in a space smaller than required and asked to behave as though everything is OK.
When there are two condensers side by side they want 28” of space (yes, like leg room) between them, and at least a 10” space to any wall or fence (a bit like seat recline). Without that spacing the efficiency of the units is significantly reduced due to overheating (every traveler who has been squeezed as they struggle for a spot of armrest knows how hot that makes them).
Make sure your condenser has the “economy plus” spacing, make them comfortable, they will work harder and cost you less.
